Scientist, Late-stage Research

Instil Bio is a global clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of novel immuno-oncology treatments called tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs). TILs are naturally occurring immune cells with the ability to identify and destroy cancer cells. Instil Bio is engineering TILs to harness and amplify their cancer fighting ability to treat of a broad range of solid tumor cancers. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the research team to participate in Instil Bio’s late-stage efforts and play a pivotal role in advancing key TIL engineering programs to clinical stage. The successful candidate will be part of a research team focus on advancing current programs to IND. In this role, the candidate will be directly reporting to Director of Late-stage Research.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate preclinical data, authoring and review study reports to support IND filing of clinical candidates
  • Execute, develop, and optimize assays to characterize modified T cell products
  • Interface with multiple CROs as needed to ensure timely execution of projects
  • Convey information and present updates around research activities
  • Successfully execute and document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail
  • Work with a cross-functional research team to advance the development of autologous T cell therapy products
  • Further the company culture of scientific excellence, achievement, and compliance for the benefit of the company’s stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. with a minimum of 1-5 years of research experience in preclinical research and IND filings; training in engineered immunotherapy, immunology, or a related field is preferred
  • Hands-on expertise in the isolation, growth, and phenotyping of primary human T cells
  • Development and execution of functional characterization assays of cell therapy products
  • Hands-on expertise in panel design, optimization, and analysis of multi-parametric flow analysis including intracellular cytokine staining
  • Experience authoring and preparing study reports for IND submission is preferred
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
