Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, US Research

Instil Bio is a global clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of novel immuno-oncology treatments called tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs). TILs are naturally occurring immune cells with the ability to identify and destroy cancer cells. Instil Bio is engineering TILs to harness and amplify their cancer fighting ability to treat of a broad range of solid tumor cancers.  Instil Bio is located in southern California with additional manufacturing and research facilities in Manchester U.K.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the research team to participate in Instil Bio’s discovery efforts and play a pivotal role in advancing key TIL engineering programs. The successful candidate be part of a research team focused on advancing current programs and developing new internal technology assets with the ultimate goal of developing cell therapy IND candidates for the treatment of solid tumors. In this role, the candidate will be directly reporting to a Scientist or Senior Scientist in Research.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate preclinical data, author and review reports aiming to inform IND candidate selection leveraging internal and external resources
  • Execute, develop, and optimize methods to modify T cells
  • Execute workflows related to the characterization and assessment of the potency of T cells
  • Contribute to generation of unique IP creation and subsequent filing of patents
  • Convey information and present updates around research activities
  • Successfully execute and document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail
  • Work with a cross-functional research team to advance the development of autologous T cell therapy products
  • Further the company culture of scientific excellence, achievement, and compliance for the benefit of the company’s stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS degree with 3+ years or MS with 1+ years relevant experience in discovery and preclinical research
  • Hands-on experience in the culture of mammalian cell lines (tissue culture)
  • Experience with isolation and culture of primary human T cells is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with flow cytometry is preferred
  • Experience with single or multiparametric ELISA methodology is preferred
  • Experience in the production of retroviral and lentiviral vectors is preferred
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
